CU-Bloomsburg Percussion Ensemble to Perform April 30
Bloomsburg, PA (04/25/2024) — The Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg Percussion Ensemble will give a concert on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
The 21-member ensemble is directed by Dr. Gifford Howarth, associate professor of music. The performance will feature a wide range of musical pieces all showing off different percussion instruments ranging from a quartet with four players all sharing one marimba to a massive percussion orchestra of 21 players.
The program will include an all-percussion arrangement of the theme of the Mandalorian television show. Four ensemble members will also perform a new work released in November 2023, "Watercolor Sun" by composer Ivan Trevino.
