CU-Lock Haven's Boxing Club to participate in inaugural 'Summer Showdown'
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (07/21/2025) — The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven Boxing Club will participate in the inaugural Summer Showdown. The live outdoor boxing event will be held on Friday, July 25, at 5:30 p.m. on East Main Street in Lock Haven, and is free and open to the public.
The Summer Showdown is a collaborative effort between Commonwealth University-Lock Haven, Downtown Lock Haven Inc., CU-Lock Haven boxing coach John Stout, USA Boxing and the National Collegiate Boxing Association (NCBA).
The evening will feature collegiate boxing bouts between student-athletes from several universities, including:
Commonwealth University - Lock Haven
Penn State University
West Chester University
University of Connecticut
Crandall University (Canada)
Spectators can expect approximately two hours of competitive matchups as student-athletes go head-to-head in the ring.
"It's a great opportunity for the crowd to come out and help grow CU-Lock Haven boxing," said CU-Lock Haven sophomore boxer, Kenny Smith. "The team and coaches have been working hard. It's going to be a good day of hard-fought bouts."
The event is part of Downtown Lock Haven's "Final Friday" series. Melissa Dally, manager, Downtown Lock Haven Inc, encourages the community to show up in full force.
