Commonwealth University's online master's in clinical mental health counseling ranked No. 1 in the country

PA (06/05/2025) — Commonwealth University's online master's degree in clinical mental health counseling was recently ranked No. 1 in the nation by counselingpsychology.org.

Rankings are determined by factors such as curriculum quality, faculty expertise, program flexibility, overall value and licensure preparation.

Congratulations to our clinical mental health counseling program on earning this well-deserved No. 1 national ranking," said Bashar W. Hanna, Commonwealth University president. "This recognition reflects the exceptional quality of CU's program, driven by our dedicated and knowledgeable faculty. Our faculty members bring real-world experience into the classroom, equipping students with the practical knowledge and skills that will shape their successes in the counseling profession."

CU's online CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs) accredited clinical mental health counseling program enables students to become license-eligible for the counseling profession in many states throughout the country. The program's primary goal is to prepare students to function independently and successfully as a clinical mental health counselor in a variety of professional settings.

Courses are offered in a flexible 100% online (synchronous and asynchronous) format with part-time and full-time options. Students can complete the program at CU in 2.5 to 3 years as a full-time student or 3.5 to 4 years as a part-time student. Students will have the option to complete their 600 hours of internship in one semester, allowing them the opportunity to complete the program a half of a year early.
