The Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg Doctor of Audiology Program participated in the Pennsylvania Academy of Audiology's Lobby Day on in June at the Pennsylvania Capitol in Harrisburg. Faculty and students met with Pennsylvania senators and house members to advocate for legislation that strengthens hearing healthcare, including HB 80 (Audiology & Speech-Language Pathology Interstate Compact), HB 1670 (expanded hearing aid coverage) and modernization of the audiology scope of practice to align Pennsylvania law with current Au.D. education and training. These advocacy efforts support improved patient access to high-quality hearing healthcare for Pennsylvanians, while demonstrating the program's commitment to leadership, service and advancing the profession.

Phi Kappa Phi recently announced the recipients of a 2026 Fellowship. The prestigious $8,500 fellowships were awarded to 40 students nationwide.

In May, Commonwealth University-Mansfield celebrated student teachers during the Induction to the Teaching Profession Ceremony held in North Dining Room in Manser Hall. After successfully completing their placements, the student teachers were honored during the program designed to celebrate the hard work, dedication and commitment of prospective teachers.

The Psychology Department at CU-Lock Haven recently held its Psi Chi Induction ceremony. The following majors and minors were inducted: Johna Rebuck, of Shamokin; Alexis Mayes, of Coalport; Rose Jeffes, of Hatboro; Daytona Yarnell, of Blanchard; Kaitlyn McGonigal, of Clearfield; Katrina Naclerio, of Milford; Emma Dickey, of Cogan Station; and Makenna Koyack, of Palmyra. Awards were also presented during the spring event: Clarissa Davis, of Bensalem - Newcomer Award Katrina Naclerio, of Milford - Newcomer Award Daytona Yarnell, of Blanchard - Achievement Award Eve Ryan, of Pottsville - Achievement Award Jordan Phillips, of Trout Run - Achievement Award Alexa Lloyd, of State College - Student of the Year Emma Stellfox, of Enola - Student of the Year Psi Chi inductees for fall 2024 included Samantha Beickel, of Lock Haven; Briana Catanzaro, of Dunmore; Gwendalyn Marquardt, of Lock Haven; Mason Novobilski, of Lewisburg; Jordan Phillips, of Trout Run; and Terrence Soler, of Carlisle.

Commonwealth University (CU) students from Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield participated in a day of intense professional development that will serve them well in their efforts to lead their own classroom or break into the field of ASL/English interpreting. The Collaborating to Assist Teacher Candidate Hiring (CATCH) Conference is designed for CU student teachers and ASL/English Interpreting seniors to practice networking, learn from experienced professionals in the field, and prepare to apply, interview, and secure teaching and interpreting positions within the region and beyond. The conference provides a platform for students to share ideas, explore practical applications for their academic knowledge, and connect with potential alumni mentors to help with the transition from college student to confident professional. "CATCH helps our students sharpen their professional skillset as they prepare to move into the workforce," explained Dr. Ann E. Larson, dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences at Commonwealth University. "They have the opportunity to expand upon what they have learned in their courses and be ready for the professional world."

Commonwealth University congratulates more than 775 students who were named to the Fall 2023 President's List. The list, prepared at the end of each semester, recognizes those students who have achieved academic distinction. To qualify for the President's List, the student must have earned a GPA of 4.0 or higher in 12 or more semester hours of letter grades.

Commonwealth University students gained a unique insight into game-day operations by working as event staff at the Little League World Series and the MLB Little League Classic this summer.

On Thursday, Sept. 28, Commonwealth University-Clearfield held its 34th annual Founders' Day convocation awards celebration in the Clearfield Academic Building multipurpose room. The event, hosted by the Clearfield Educational Foundation and CU-Clearfield, honored 22 students with awards and scholarships.
