Pianist to Give Performance, Masterclass at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg
Bloomsburg, PA (10/29/2025) — Pianist Nicholas Ross will perform a program for the left hand alone at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg on Saturday, Nov. 1, 7:30 p.m., in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall.
The program will include the celebrated Bach-Brahms Chaconne, Scriabin's Prelude and Nocturne Op. 9, Sonata No. 6 ("Black Elk") by American composer Kent Holliday, transcriptions and arrangements of music by Albeniz and Leopold Godowsky by Nick Ross, and ends with original works by Godowsky.
Inspired by the resilience of left-handed pianist Paul Wittgenstein, Ross turned to this relatively unknown yet rich and rewarding genre after sustaining nerve injury in his right arm and hand. Ross will also give a Piano Masterclass on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall.
