Osgood Makes $50,000 Gift to Bloomsburg University Foundation to Support Student Success

Commonwealth University president's gift reflects his commitment to helping Bloomsburg students succeed

Bloomsburg, PA (10/21/2026) — Commonwealth University President Jeff Osgood and partner Patrick Richard have made a $50,000 gift to the Bloomsburg University Foundation to support student success at CU-Bloomsburg, reinforcing his commitment to ensuring students have the resources and support they need to make the most of their college experience.

Osgood's gift reflects his belief that helping students succeed means looking beyond the classroom. From financial assistance to academic guidance and personal support, students benefit when they have people and resources they can turn to throughout their college journey.

"My own college experience was shaped by people who helped me along the way and made it possible for me to achieve my goal of earning my degree," said Osgood. "I know how much that support can mean. I want our students to have that same opportunity and to know they have people in their corner, especially when they face challenges. This gift is one way I can give back and help ensure our students have the resources and support they need to succeed."

For many students, the cost of earning a degree extends well beyond tuition. Scholarships, financial assistance, and access to resources when unexpected challenges arise can make a meaningful difference in a student's ability to stay in school and complete a degree.

"President Osgood's gift comes at an important time for students and families facing the rising costs of higher education," said Jerome Dvorak, executive director of the Bloomsburg University Foundation. "Flexible support allows us to respond to changing needs and direct resources where they can have the greatest impact and sometimes means helping students by providing scholarship assistance or addressing challenges that could otherwise stand in the way of graduation. We are grateful for his generosity and for his commitment to making student success a shared priority."

The Bloomsburg University Foundation works in partnership with Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg to secure and manage private support for scholarships, academic programs, and other university priorities. Alumni, families, businesses, and friends of the university all play a role in expanding opportunities for Bloomsburg students.
