Mansfield Police Academy Graduates 43rd Class
Mansfield, PA (11/25/2025) — Commonwealth University-Mansfield's Act 120 Municipal Police Academy graduated 14 cadets from its 43rd class in a ceremony at Straughn Auditorium on Friday, Nov. 21.
Established in 1977, Mansfield's academy is one of only 17 pre-service municipal police academies across Pennsylvania certified by the Municipal Police Officers' Education and Training Commission. The 25-week academy requires 919 hours of instruction and development of personal skills. Graduating from a certified Act 120 academy is required to become a municipal police officer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The following cadets were members of the 2025 graduating class and are now eligible to be certified as municipal police officers in Pennsylvania:

- Brady DePasqua (Williamsport, Pa.)
- Derek Fravel (Bellefonte, Pa.)
- Collin Klinger (Trevorton, Pa.)
- Landen Lose (Bellefonte, Pa.)
- Jimmy Lyons (Bloomsburg, Pa.)
- Alex Marquez (Dallas, Pa.)
- Dylan McCloskey (Bellefonte, Pa.)
- Mason Merrill (Montoursville, Pa.)
- Brayden Newman (Falconer, N.Y.)
- Luke Segraves (Williamsport, Pa.)
- Elizabeth Troutman (Lehighton, Pa.)
- Hayden Yeager (Ridgway, Pa.)
The class had a 100% pass rate for the required exams to complete their certification.
Luke Segraves received the Barbara Butcher Top Physical Fitness Award, and Mason Merrill, who also provided the class address, was named the Christine Shegan Top Academic Award winner. Landen Lose earned both the James Fox Top Driver Award and the Keith Graver Top Firearms Award.
The police academy is part of CU-Mansfield's Public Safety Training Institute, a regional training center providing initial and continuing professional education for criminal justice practitioners, first responders, public safety professionals, and the public.
Mansfield's full-time academy runs annually from May to November.
The curriculum includes criminal law and investigation, vehicle code, accident investigation, first aid and CPR, operation of patrol vehicles, crisis management, defensive tactics, and firearms.
Mansfield's Academy is also the sole provider of Act 120 instruction and certification for the PA Fish and Boat Commission Waterways Conservation Officers' yearlong training program.
