CU-Lock Haven students attend Northeast Greek Leadership AssociationConference

LOCK HAVEN, PA (03/14/2024) — The Commonwealth University-Lock Haven Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council sent nine members from fraternity and sorority organizations to participate in the 2024 Northeast Greek Leadership Association (NGLA) Conference in Hartford, Connecticut, in February.

Attendees were able to choose from more than 100 hours of programming including lectorials on C.H.A.N.G.E. or R.A.C.E., Graduate Student Encounter, The Social Excellence Series and more.

Keynote addresses were given by Dr. Mari Ann Callais and Emily Hines on "Shifting Mindsets, Connecting Generations;" Qy'Darrius "Q" McEachern on "It Takes a Village;" and Jay Harris on "Reroute: An Indirect Path To Your Greatest Dreams."

"Going to NGLA was a great experience," said Skylar Lininger, of Howard. "I got to meet members from the Sigma Kappa sorority from other universities and build relationships with the other members of sororities and fraternities across the northeast. It was a great opportunity to learn build leadership skills and learn from other campus leaders across NGLA."

During the conference, three students received scholarships from their national fraternal organizations. Scholarship recipients were Chase Piper, of Mount Joy - Phi Mu Delta; James Richtscheit, of West Decatur - Alpha Chi Rho; and Mark Amlin, of Spring City - Alpha Chi Rho.

NGLA is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization of dedicated individuals working to develop and educate students and professionals in the northeast. They provide educational experiences and programming with the goal of helping the fraternal community align actions with values.
