CU-Lock Haven recent athletic training graduate completes full-immersion experience at Bucknell University, followed by OR residency

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (09/02/2025) — Commonwealth University-Lock Haven athletic training graduate student, Dominic Caputo, of Montoursville, recently completed a full-immersion experience at Bucknell University.

Prior to attending CU-Lock Haven, he completed his undergraduate degree at CU-Bloomsburg. During Caputo's time at Lock Haven, he spent two years building off of the foundation created at Bloomsburg. This growth included becoming an expert in emergency care, injury evaluation and diagnosis, injury rehabilitation and injury prevention. Caputo also competed in track and field, where he boosted himself up to a top-5 mark in Lock Haven track and field history.

During his time at Bucknell, Caputo worked with the women's lacrosse and track and field teams. He has seen several musculoskeletal pathologies, and played a lead role in the athletes' evaluation and rehabilitation.

"Bucknell was an amazing opportunity for me to provide quality care as a clinician, as we students feel more independent," Caputo said.

"Dominic was a great student for us at Bucknell. He is a very personable athletic trainer and has proven his way into becoming a professional," said Mark Groetzinger, a 2005 graduate of Lock Haven.

With the hours spent on field and in the classroom, Caputo took a day trip to the PA state capitol building in Harrisburg to advocate for the profession of athletic training, and thank senators for recent acts that were passed to further strengthen what athletic trainers can do.

Caputo is now taking part in an OR residency at Lancaster General Health's sport medicine facility.
