CU-Lock Haven Celebrates 2025 Haven Homecoming Festivities

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (11/04/2025) — Commonwealth University-Lock Haven celebrated Homecoming 2025 from October 14-18, welcoming alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members back to campus for a week filled with Bald Eagle pride, tradition and fun.

Festivities kicked off on Tuesday, Oct. 14, with the women's volleyball team defeating CU-Bloomsburg 3-0 inside Thomas Fieldhouse. On Wednesday, Oct. 15, the CU-Lock Haven University Store opened its doors for special Homecoming hours, and later that evening, women's soccer faced East Stroudsburg under the lights at Hubert Jack Stadium, earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Thursday's action featured Student-Alumni Connections: Success in 60! at the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center (DACC), bringing together students and alumni for an afternoon of networking, mentorship and career insight.

That evening, the 14th Annual Golf Cart Parade and Lawn Party transformed campus into a festive "Haven Halloween" celebration. Students, faculty, alumni and community members lined North Fairview Street to watch more than 50 creatively decorated golf carts make their way down the parade route, tossing candy to children and spectators along the way. This year's standout entries included "The Grave Digger," "The Stanford Prison Experiment," "The Original White Ghost" and the "Lock Haven University Foundation of Fear."

Following the parade, the Lawn Party offered free food, games and live music for all attendees. Phantom Entertainment provided inflatable obstacle courses and a spooky pumpkin ride, while Rick Rock from 99.5 and 107.5 FM kept the energy high throughout the evening. Alumni, students and local families joined in for classic yard games and photo ops.

Friday, Oct. 17, began at Belles Springs Golf Course with the annual Alumni Golf Classic. Participants enjoyed a morning of friendly competition on the links. A doormat craft-making event also took place onsite.

Back on campus, Lock Haven field hockey hosted Virginia Commonwealth University Charlotte, falling 4-0 to the Rams at Charlotte Smith Field. Later that afternoon, the Lock Haven Alumni Association's "Friday Afternoon Recreation Time" mix & mingle welcomed more than 85 alumni to the DACC for an evening of reconnecting, live music and reminiscing. The Class of 1975 also gathered in the DACC Ballroom to celebrate their 50th reunion, sharing memories and laughter well into the night.

Saturday, Oct. 18, featured a full schedule of events beginning with Admissions VIP Day and tailgating in the Hubert Jack Stadium parking lot. The Class of 1975 continued their reunion festivities with a campus tour, reunion tailgate and an evening gathering at The Broken Axe.

On the field, Lock Haven football battled West Chester University, coming away with a 28-21 come-from-behind victory to defeat the Golden Rams for the first time in 34 years. Later in the day, women's soccer took on Shepherd, falling 4-0 at Hubert Jack Stadium.
