CU-Lock Haven Alpha Sigma Tau continue tradition of supporting the Haven Cupboard
LOCK HAVEN, PA (06/27/2024) — This spring, as part of Commonwealth University-Lock Haven's Alpha Sigma Tau Zeta chapter's founder's day activities, the sisters decided to continue a tradition the chapter began last year by supporting and donating to the Haven Cupboard campus food pantry for Lock Haven students.
Megan Mengel, the chapter's president of growth and director of philanthropy, contacted the cupboard and created an Amazon wish list of items in need. She also reached out to the chapter's alumni and posted the list to their Facebook page.
"With the help of all the active sisters and the alumni we had bought all goods on the list, and then some more," Mengel said.
Abby Batterson, a local Zeta alumna, offered to have the goods sent to her home to store until the end of the fundraiser.
"The Haven Cupboard loves when organizations like AST reach out and ask how they can help support our efforts," said Amy Downes, associate vice president of student success and campus life and Cupboard director. "Philanthropy and sisterhood were at the heart of this donation as the current members and alumni demonstrated with this drive. We hope to be a part of their tradition for many years to come."
