CU-Bloomsburg to Stage 'A Divine Kerfuffle'
BLOOMSBURG, PA (02/23/2024) — The BU Players, one of the resident producers for Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg's Arts in Bloom, will stage "A Divine Kerfuffle" a new play by H. Russ Brown. The production will run Thursday, Feb. 29, through Sunday, March 3, at Alvina Krause Theatre, 226 Center St., downtown Bloomsburg.
Showtimes will be Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. Advanced tickets are available in the Haas Center for the Arts on the Bloomsburg campus or at the door one hour before curtain. Admission is free for current CU-Bloomsburg students with an ID, $6 for adults, and $4 for students and senior citizens. The approximate run time of the show is 110 minutes, which will include a 10-minute intermission. The performance is not recommended for children.
Directed by CU theatre professor Dr. Carrie Winship, the play is set in 1895 in the dressing room of Sarah Bernhardt in the Daly Theatre, London. Bernhardt is the greatest actress to ever grace the Victorian stage - just ask her! The "Divine Sarah" fears, however, that her once bright star may be fading with all the attention suddenly being lavished on a talented, younger rival. The stage is set for the ultimate showdown as the two dueling divas cross wits and blades in this farce.
The production features students Johanna Gelbs as Sarah Bernhardt and Eliana M. Tate as Eleanora Duse. The cast includes Kelsey Sheffe as Herta, Mitch Leso as Emilio/Photographer, Drew Douglas Rehrig as Cyril Tidd, Destiny Martinez as Daisy, Olivia Ward as Clumps, Colin Search as Digby P. Bardwell, and Ymani Marseille-Garcia, Ashlyn O'Sick, Melissa Lewis, and Andrew Meschke as reporters.
The BU Players promote experience in all aspects of theatre and are a resident producer of Arts in Bloom. The BU Players are sponsored by the Community Government Association. For more information about the BU Players, visit buplayers.org.
