CU-Bloomsburg to Host Concerts
Bloomsburg, PA (11/17/2025) — Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg will host several concerts from Nov. 18 through Nov. 22.
The concerts, free and open to the public, include:
- Percussion Ensemble Concert, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m., Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. Directed by Dr. Gifford Howarth, the show will include selections not previously performed at Bloomsburg.
- Wind Ensemble Concert, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m., Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. Directed by Dr. Stephen Clickard, the performance will include new and classic pieces, including works by Puccini, Granados, and Gounod. Music student Cory Perkins will conduct one of the selections.
- Guitar Ensemble Concert, Thursday, Nov. 20, 7:30 p.m., Carver Hall, K.S. Gross Auditorium. Directed by Dr. Matthew Slotkin, the concert will feature music by Olga Amelkina-Vera, Bela Bartok, Stepan Rak, and Domenico Scarlatti. The concert will feature soloists, a quartet, an octet, and two pieces for a large ensemble of twelve guitars.
- University-Community Orchestra Concert, Saturday, Nov. 22, 7:30 p.m., Haas Center for the Arts, Mitrani Hall. The program will be a Celebration of the 21st century. Directed by Dr. David Tedford, the orchestra will perform a world premiere by Dr. Stephen Clickard called Sinfonia Sabatica. The symphony is based on Peruvian and jazz styles from his trip to Peru in the summer of 2024. The program will also include a piece titled "Quirk," led by student conductor Cory Perkins, and Dorian Dance. All three pieces were composed within the last fifteen years.
