CU-Bloomsburg to Celebrate Earth Day
Bloomsburg, PA (04/15/2025) — Earth Day will be observed at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg's Academic Quad on Tuesday, April 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Offerings will include games, food, music, and demonstrations geared toward helping visitors grow a greater appreciation of the planet's ecosystem while having some fun doing it.
The title is "Wild about Earth Day" to reflect an emphasis on our fellow residents of Earth, animals. The theme will be reflected in the organization of the tables and activities, which will be divided into four of Earth's eight land biomes and the two that comprise the waters.
Each section will have a mascot: the gorilla representing the tropical rainforest; the octopus for fresh and salt water; the tortoise for the desert; the polar bear for the arctic tundra. Details about the four habitats will be available, and a brief description of all of Earth's biomes will be featured as well.
Free food, music, games, and more will be part of the day. Some of the food will be loosely tied to the theme of a biome - Italian ice for the arctic, for instance. Exhibitors from community groups and businesses, as well as campus organizations, will provide the activities and information. And some furry and scaley friends are scheduled to make appearances.
Special "Wild about Earth Day" T-shirts will be available for sale.
The event is sponsored by the Green Campus Initiative of CU-Bloomsburg and the Office of Civic Engagement. For more information contact: Tim Pelton, Civic Engagement Coordinator, Office of Civic Engagement, at tpelton@commonwealthu.edu.
