Commonwealth University Professor and Children's Author Julie Petry to Give Reading

PA (06/17/2025) — Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg theatre and dance professor Julie Petry will give a reading of her children's book on Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at the Ralpho Public Library in Elysburg.

Created in partnership with area art teacher Dia Bradley, Petry's book How to Feel Good When You Wish That You Could is geared for children ages 4-9. The book is available on Amazon and will be carried at Endless Records and Phillip's Emporium in Bloomsburg.

The work was inspired by Petry's many years of teaching students about body wellness in her theatre and dance classes. The book is designed to help children learn to identify, manage, and redirect their bodies and energy when they're feeling mad, sad, embarrassed, exhausted, drained, blue, or anxious. Through the eyes of a variety of characters, children will learn that all human beings have feelings and gain ideas, tips, and tools for what to do when they experience those same states and feelings.
