Commonwealth University-Lock Haven to offer EMT training in the fall

LOCK HAVEN, PA (04/30/2024) — Commonwealth University Workforce Development will offer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training on the CU-Lock Haven campus during the fall 2024 semester.

Based on concepts of active learning, student engagement, and hybrid course design, the EMT flipped classroom (hybrid instruction) serves as a course roadmap to provide a cooperative and successful learning experience.

The flipped classroom model dedicates class time to resolving misconceptions through collaborative problem-solving activities, elevating knowledge into application-level tasks and skills practice and increasing engagement and confidence.

Students interact with primary source content outside of the classroom to develop foundational knowledge. The EMT flipped classroom delivers primary source content in a variety of engaging formats, including an emergency care and transportation of the sick and injured and interactive and virtual mentor lectures.

The 15-week EMT training will be held from Aug. 27 through Dec. 7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m. and on select Saturdays from 8-5 p.m.

The cost is $1,250 per person and includes all materials, 10 patient contacts and one NREMT exam attempt. Scholarship opportunities may be available through your local EMS or your employer. Registration is now open at https://shorturl.at/behvF.
