Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg to Host Activities Related to Earth Day

Bloomsburg, PA (04/05/2024) — Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg will host a series of activities related to Earth Day in April.

The film "How to Let Go of The World and Love All the Things Climate Can't Change" will be screened on Thursday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in Hartline Science Center, Kuster Auditorium. Director Josh Fox, Oscar-nominated for "Gasland," examines what has already been lost due to climate change and why we need to focus on what can't be lost. The film acknowledges that it may be too late to stop some of the worst consequences and asks, what is it that climate change can't destroy?

Climate change activist Peterson Tascano, will speak on campus Monday, April 22, the official date for Earth Day, at 7 p.m.in Warren Student Services Center, room 004. A playwright, actor, Bible scholar, blogger, podcaster, and gay rights activist, Tascano has appeared on television and the radio as a guest on the Tyra Banks show, the Montel Williams Show, PBS In the Live, PRI to the Point, Faith Under Fire, and BBC World Service.

On Wednesday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Academic Quad, local businesses, Bloomsburg clubs, and organizations will be present to recognize Earth Day with activities to engage in. The event, organized by the Green Campus Initiative and Dr. Paula Hopeck's event planning class, will encompass the theme of "There is No Restart" through interactive activities inspired by video games to help students level up their eco-friendly habits.
