Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg Holds Spring Commencement Ceremonies
BLOOMSBURG, PA (05/17/2024) — Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg celebrated the graduating Class of 2024 during the spring commencement ceremonies. Graduate students were celebrated on Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m. in the Haas Center for the Arts and undergraduate students were recognized on Saturday, May 11, at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. ceremonies at Redman Stadium. More than 210 graduate students and 1160 undergraduate students received their degrees.
Graduate ceremony speakers included Dr. Diana Rogers-Adkinson, CU provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, welcomed the guests, followed by remarks from Dr. Bashar Hanna, president; and Ray Zaborney, Council of Trustees.
Speakers at the undergraduate ceremonies included President Hanna, Trustee Ray Zaborney; Khalid Mumin, Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education; Kayla Kinney, senior class president, Matthew Yurkunas, student government president; and Ayanna Bennett, alumna.
"Your time here has been defined by more than just lectures, exams, clinical rotations, group projects, and papers. It's been a period of growth, transformation, and discovery. You've formed friendships that will undoubtedly last with you always. The journey was surely not always easy, but through it all you persevered. You have pushed boundaries, challenged assumptions, and pursued knowledge with a relentless passion," Hanna said.
"The skills you've learned will serve you throughout your lives. The world - and the Commonwealth - needs confident, influential leaders and scholars like yourselves," said Mumin. "Whether you are entering the workforce, moving on to graduate school, or joining the military, I know you will continue to be successful and navigate this new chapter with tenacity and determination."
