Commonwealth University and Corning Community College partner for seamless transfer pathway

PA (12/15/2025) — Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania and SUNY Corning Community College have announced an enhanced partnership that streamlines the transfer process for students pursuing a bachelor's degree. The agreement provides SUNY CCC graduates direct entry to the Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield campuses of Commonwealth University with full junior status, helping students save time and money while advancing their educational and career goals.

As part of the transfer scholarship agreement, eligible SUNY CCC students may receive annual, renewable merit scholarships of up to $4,500. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher who live on campus are eligible for the maximum scholarship amount.

"This partnership represents an important step forward in expanding opportunity for our students," said Tony Wohlers, vice president of academic affairs at SUNY Corning Community College. "By creating a clear, affordable, and fully aligned pathway to a bachelor's degree, we are removing barriers and empowering our graduates to continue their academic journeys with confidence. Commonwealth University's commitment to transfer-friendly practices and student success makes this an ideal collaboration to facilitate student success."

"Commonwealth University is pleased to partner with Corning Community College to promote an efficient transfer process between our two institutions," said Stephen Lee, vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at Commonwealth University. "By maximizing the transfer of credit from a Corning Community College associate's degree, and providing merit scholarships, this articulation agreement will reduce barriers for students and promote completion of a bachelor's degree at Commonwealth University."

Commonwealth University offers more than 80 innovative degree programs across its Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield campuses. As a member of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), CU's tuition is among the lowest in the state.

The partnership also provides innovative credit transfer tools like the Transfer Equivalency Self-Service (TESS), which helps students determine how their credits will apply to their intended degree.

To apply for fall enrollment, students must complete their application and submit transcripts by June 1 and pay deposits by July 1.
