Bloomsburg, PA (10/31/2023) — The BU Players, one of the resident producers for Commonwealth University's Arts in Bloom, will produce The Astronots, a brand new play from Pittsburgh-based playwright Mora V. Harris, Nov. 2 through 5 at the Alvina Krause Theatre, 226 Center Street, in downtown Bloomsburg.
Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg theatre faculty member Prof. David A. Miller is directing the production.
Performances are Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 2 to 4, at 7:30 p.m. or Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. Tickets are free for current BU Students with ID, $6 for Adults, and $4 for non-BU students and seniors. In The Astronots, billionaire C.E.O. Alston Garth invites four lucky contest winners to ride with him on a quick scenic orbit around the Earth in an unmanned craft. When Alston reveals he has a larger adventure in store, the passengers are determined to reverse the ship's course before they languish away in a metallic tube full of strangers.
The Astronots was initially developed during the 2022 Plays in Bloom Residency, part of Plays in Bloom: A New Play Development Program at Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg (playsinbloom.org). For more information about the BU Players, visit buplayers.org.
