Commonwealth University-Mansfield holds spring commencement ceremonies
MANSFIELD, PA (05/16/2024) — Commonwealth University-Mansfield celebrated the graduating Class of 2024 during the spring commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11 at 4 p.m. at Karl Van Norman Field. More than 230 members of the Class of 2024 received their degrees.
Speakers included Dr. Gretchen Sechrist, interim vice provost and dean of undergraduate education; Dr. Diana Rogers-Adkinson, CU provost and senior vice president of academic affairs; Angela Smith, Council of Trustees; Freddie Coleman, ESPN radio host and alumnus; and Ashley Newell, student government president.
"Never lose your passion for learning, discovery, and growth. And never underestimate the power of your Mansfield education. Your degree will open doors for you that you never thought possible," Rogers-Adkinson said.
"Life is to be lived. Don't be afraid to live it," Coleman said. "Don't be afraid to try different things. Don't be afraid to go outside your comfort zone. "It is a day to reflect, to rejoice, to laugh, to pat yourself on the back, to have others pat you on the back. We as Mansfield alums are so proud of you."
"I would like to propose today that you're all here because someone gave you strength," Newell said. "Whether that strength came from a higher power, from a close friend, from a professor, or from your family. None of you completed this journey alone, and I want to remind you that the next part of your voyage will be no different."
