5 Commonwealth University students awarded Preventive Measures Foundation Legacy Scholarships

PA (07/01/2026) — Students from each of the Commonwealth University campuses and the Clearfield location were awarded a $2,000 scholarship from the Preventive Measures Foundation. The Preventive Measures Foundation is the philanthropic extension of Preventive Measures, a provider of mental health and supportive services in Pennsylvania, Georgia and Washington DC.

The Preventive Measures Foundation Legacy Scholarship (PMFLS) supports individuals pursuing careers in the field of human services, including public administration, medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, public health and related disciplines, and is available to students who reside in or attend school in Pennsylvania, Washington DC or Georgia, as well as students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU). Both undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to apply.

The following are Commonwealth University students who have been awarded PMFL scholarship:

Carlee Ginther, of Saint Marys: CU-Clearfield location, physician associate studies graduate student

Addison Grace Johnson, of Emmaus: CU-Bloomsburg, nursing

Blaise Swancer, of Duncannon: CU-Lock Haven, nursing

Maura Kulp, of Ottsville: CU-Mansfield, biomedical sciences

Bethany Daub, of Tower City: CU-Lock Haven, physician associate studies graduate student

"The need for qualified human service professionals has never been greater," said Paula Gonzalez, MSW, LSW, executive director, Preventive Measures Foundation. "Through our $2,000 Legacy Scholarships, we are investing in the next generation of social workers, counselors and human service professionals who will strengthen our communities and expand access to care. By helping students overcome financial barriers, we are supporting not only their educational journey, but also the countless individuals and families they will serve throughout their careers."

The scholarship application period opens annually on Oct. 1 and closes on Feb. 28. Each year 45 applicants are awarded $2,000 scholarships to help advance their education and continue making a positive impact in their communities.
